Traci was born and raised in the Queen City Regina, Saskatchewan. A true rider girl, she bleeds green through and through and looks forward to time by the lakes to unwind. Growing up Traci was a lover of all creatures great and small...so much so that her parents thought this would lead her to a career as a veterinarian. She did end up on a different but similar path...
Traci moved to Calgary in 2001 to pursue a career in nursing at MRU. She graduated in 2005 and started work at the Rockyview General Hospital. The opportunity presented in 2006 to move to the Alberta Children's Hospital, where she has been a valued member of the PICU team for 16 years. Most recently she has joined the bed placement team as a flow coordinator and is looking forward to the challenges a new role will bring.
The time in PICU not only led to many fantastic relationships and friends, but also led Traci to crossing paths with the love of her life, Brent. Traci and Brent married in 2012 and were joined by their son Marcus in 2013. They now share a wonderful family, often seen on road trips to speedskating meets with Marcus, joined by their newest family member...Vesper who is now 2 years old. Being part Shepherd, part Akbash, Vesper is a fantastic family protector, but more importantly, has the amazing breed name..."Shakbash!" The mountains, especially Bragg Creek area is where they spend free time...Bragg Creek holds a special spot in their hearts as this is where they married.
In her spare time, Traci loves to do furniture redesign, painting with watercolors or oils, knitting/crocheting and she is pretty good on the piano (if she would practice...). An amateur chemist, Traci is also known to make soap, lotions and body products from time to time. Most of all however, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching a great movie or reading a good book.
In late September 2023, following some intermittent chest pain, she was seen in Leduc hospital while away on a trip with her sister Crystal. A large mediastinal mass was identified setting Traci on a very unexpected adventure. While the future ahead may have many questions and uncertainties, we invite you, friends and family, to join Traci on this journey.
